Metung Bushland Reserve
The Monday, the second of August 50 shrubs will be planted at the Reserve, representing one shrub for each of our 50 children. The tree planting will begin at the school at 2 pm.
The School is very interested in supporting 'Friends of Metung' and 'Friends of the Gippsland Lakes' in their efforts to turn the Metung Bushland Reserve into a community asset.

Already upper-school students have begun researching the reserve, by searching for information on limestone box forests. We have discovered that the forest exists due to its closeness to the Lakes. We learned that the eucalypts found in a limestone box forest are southern mahogany, red ironbark, grey box and blue box
Southern Mahogany Red Ironbark Grey Box Blue Box
We walked around the reserve looking for examples of these trees, and we think we found blue box, grey box and red ironbark. It was difficult to tell, as the eucalypts are not in flower.
